Guérande by light

When night falls, the town of Guérande is decked out in pretty lights to highlight its exceptional heritage. The “Guérande by Light” illuminations are available all year round. Come out and admire them!

The medieval town of Guérande in a different light

To highlight the town of Guérande’s heritage, the town council has developed a lighting plan designed to act as a nocturnal guide. It highlights emblematic elements of the town’s built heritage, in particular the church of Saint-Aubin and the medieval town, while offering a coherent lighting route.

This project is part of a sustainable development approach. The lighting systems, which are low-energy and energy-efficient, have been designed to be discreet and blend naturally into the urban and landscape environment.

Atmospheres that change

The medieval town of Guérande changes colour and sparkles to coincide with the major events of the year:
– Medieval Festival: red, orange, yellow, and projection of medieval images
– Fête de la Musique: yellow-orange, with a fire effect projected onto the Saint-Aubin collegiate church, the Notre-Dame-la-Blanche chapel and the ramparts
– Fête Nationale: blue, white and red, for a patriotic atmosphere
– Les Celtiques: green for a Celtic atmosphere, with ermine and triskels projected onto a number of buildings
– Heritage Day: pinkish amber
– Christmas: blue/cyan, snowflakes and stars projected onto the collegiate church and doors

It’s a simple walk, without a programme, to rediscover the town and its surroundings from a fresh perspective.
