Mesquer-Quimiac Between land and sea

Between the Mès marshes and the Atlantic Ocean, Mesquer-Quimiac reveals a rare charm, where nature, the heritage of salt production and the pleasures of the seaside come together in a soothing, authentic harmony.

Getting there

A great A breath of fresh air

Between the ocean and the marshes, Mesquer-Quimiac is a place of authenticity and natural energy. Along the GR®34, the walks offer breathtaking views of the Pointe de Merquel and the great beaches of Sorlock and Lanséria. Lazing in the sun, paddling at sunrise, sailing or just relaxing with your feet in the sand: here, everything invites you to enjoy the sea in complete freedom. The coastline has retained its wild charm, perfect for relaxing, breathing in the sea air and savouring those simple moments that make holidays so special.

Taste with view

The charm continues at Kercabellec, with its oyster huts and terraces overlooking the marshes. This picturesque little port lives to the rhythm of the tides and the work of the oyster farmers, who passionately cultivate the famous Mesquer oysters. It takes almost three years to give them their unique flavour, a reflection of the marine terroir. You can taste the local produce on the spot, accompanied by a glass of Muscadet (in moderation), before extending the experience with mussels or grilled sardines. A simple, convivial and resolutely authentic experience, to be enjoyed in front of the setting sun…

  • The Mès basin

The Bassin du Mès, in Mesquer, is a veritable showcase for the region’s typical salt marshes. Here, the Guérande salt crystallises with the tides and the wind, creating a luminous, ever-changing landscape that’s perfect for walks and discovering an ancestral know-how.

  • The Traict du Rostu

The Traict du Rostu, between the ocean and the salt marshes, is revealed at both high and low tide, revealing vast mudflats and wetlands. This 126-hectare Natura 2000 site is home to rare birds and habitats. An observation post allows you to admire the wildlife in complete tranquillity, while respecting this protected site.

  • The ArtyMès

Culture also comes to Mesquer! The L’Arty Mès theatre offers a varied programme of cultural events every year, including comedy, music, theatre, circus and festivals. This friendly venue offers residents and visitors artistic events throughout the year, encouraging the discovery and sharing of cultural experiences for all audiences.
And when the warm weather arrives, culture also leaves the walls: some events and shows take place outdoors, in Kercabellec, the village of Mesquer and Quimiac.
