Branféré : A wildlife and botanical park and the Parcabout®

Branféré, 56190 Le Guerno

A unique wildlife park in France

Located in the heart of 45 hectares of unspoilt nature, Branféré Park is one of the largest wildlife parks in France. It is home to more than 1,500 animals of 195 different species, including 60 endangered species, living in semi-freedom in vast multi-species plains. Here, there are no cages, no cars and no fake scenery: everything is designed to promote animal welfare and natural behaviour. During your visit, you may encounter giraffes, siamangs, okapis, red pandas, pygmy hippopotamuses, Humboldt penguins, wallabies and even the impressive Indian rhinoceros. From Africa to Asia via South America, visitors embark on a veritable world tour of animals, in the heart of a remarkable botanical garden.

Parcabout: An animal and leisure park for the whole family!

Like a work of art, this playground skilfully blends into its surroundings, making each creation a unique space that invites you to jump and climb in complete freedom. Set apart from the animals to preserve their tranquillity, the giant trampolines place no strain or stress on the trees. Designed to suit the location and layout of the trees, it does not detract from the landscape. The nets are regularly moved in line with the natural cycle of the trees to preserve their well-being.

A strong commitment to animal welfare and conservation

Branféré is recognised as a benchmark in animal welfare. Each species benefits from a suitable natural habitat. The park relies on expert scientific management in ethology to ensure their behavioural needs are met, supported by a team of veterinarians and keepers. As a member of EAZA, IUCN and AFDPZ, Branféré participates in more than 60 European conservation programmes (EEP) and actively supports initiatives in the field, contributing in particular to the reintroduction of the European pond turtle and the preservation of rare species such as the Indian rhinoceros and the siamang gibbon.

A place dedicated to research and innovation

Branféré is an active research centre dedicated to understanding and protecting animals. Since 2024, Branféré has launched numerous groundbreaking ethological studies in partnership with scientific and academic institutions on:

• The adaptation of certain bird species to environmental changes,
• The possibility of offering different environments through an enclosure rotation system,
• The influence of night-time shows on animal welfare,
• The link between music, animals and well-being.

The School of Nature: raising awareness among tomorrow's citizens

Since 2004, Branféré has welcomed more than 8,000 students per year through its School of Nature, a pioneering educational concept in France. Through immersive educational trips, BAFA training courses and CSR programmes, the school aims to raise awareness of environmental issues. This strong commitment to raising awareness complements Branféré's mission: to combine respect for biodiversity, knowledge transfer and concrete action for the planet.
