Flavours of October

Ajouter aux favoris

Every year, the “Saveurs d’octobre” event brings together chefs, producers and lovers of good food for a month of 100% local workshops, tastings and meetings.

An event for lovers of good food

Organised every year by the La Baule-Presqu’île de Guérande Tourist Office, from1 to 31 October, Saveurs d’octobre is much more than a gourmet event: it’s a celebration of the local culinary heritage and the people who bring it to life.

For several years now, the Office has been committed to highlighting the diversity of the region’s products, the creativity of its chefs and the richness of its culinary traditions. In October, the whole of the Presqu’île becomes a discovery ground, where you can explore the flavours that tell the story of its history, geography and unique know-how, between sea, marsh and bocage.

Designed to appeal to everyone, Saveurs d’octobre brings together locals, visitors, families and gourmets in a rich and accessible programme. The Tourist Office is mobilising restaurateurs, caterers, volunteers, associations and producers to offer a lively and generous overview of the region’s culinary heritage. With around 150 events, everyone can enjoy the month to their heart’s content:

  • free cookery demonstrations followed by tastings;
  • gourmet walks in symbolic settings;
  • themed meals
  • events for children
  • visits to farms and producers
  • meetings with local artisans and chefs…

In praise of taste for young and old

Whether you’re passionate about gastronomy, keen to discover new things or simply looking for a convivial moment, Saveurs d’octobre is the perfect opportunity to experience an authentic immersion in the heart of the Guérande peninsula. Throughout the month, the area comes alive with encounters, tastings and tasty experiences.

Because culinary discoveries are passed on from an early age, Saveurs d’octobre is also offering a programme dedicated to children, designed to awaken their senses and curiosity. Through fun workshops, meetings with producers and specially adapted gourmet experiences, the youngest children (accompanied by an adult) learn to recognise local produce, understand its origins and discover the simple pleasure of cooking and tasting locally. These are all opportunities to share, create and learn about more responsible eating.

Gourmand and responsible

Because the pleasures of the table also rhyme with respect for the environment, the Saveurs d’octobre event is committed to reducing its impact and promoting sustainable practices, alongside chefs, producers and visitors.

CSR commitments in line with the Tourist Office’s Lucie RSE 26000 label:

  • Local and seasonal products: priority to short circuits and local producers
  • Less waste: reusable containers, waste recovery and sorting
  • Gourmet awareness: events to learn how to cook without waste
  • Promoting the region and its produce throughout the year
  • Less paper: encourage people to download and reuse brochures
  • Accessibility: a Tourist Office with the “Tourism and Disability” label
