In La Turballe, a charming fishing town on the Guérande peninsula, Atlantic Cinema is run by the Cinéma Atlantic association and its hundred or so volunteers.
A local arthouse cinema labelled Art et Essai, “Research and Discovery”, “Young Audience” and “Heritage and Repertoire”, it offers an affordable and eclectic programme showcasing the full diversity of French, European and international cinema. Foreign-language films are screened in their original version.
The cinema also hosts documentaries, live music film screenings, Q&A sessions, themed cycles and classic film retrospectives, attracting a curious audience who value its friendly atmosphere.
Strongly committed to film education, the cinema participates in the three national schemes (School, College and Sixth Form Cinema), and offers year-round screenings for young audiences, as well as table mash-up workshops. It also organises the Rêves d’Enfances Festival and “My First Cinema” screenings for very young children (from age 2) during school holidays.
With both educational and social commitments, in partnership with APEI 44, it also hosts screenings for people with disabilities, including those with behavioural disorders.
The 160-seat auditorium is air-conditioned, and the local currency, the ROZO, is accepted.
There is no online advance ticket sales; however, reservations are available remotely for cardholders with a preloaded membership.
