Description
The Pax cinema, owned by the Town of Le Pouliguen, is open all year round and run by the Ciné'Phare association and its hundred or so volunteers. Just a stone’s throw from La Baule, in the heart of the Guérande Peninsula, this local cinema - classified as an arthouse cinema and awarded the “Young Audiences” and “Research & Discovery” labels - offers an eclectic and discerning programme at attractive prices, showcasing the full diversity of French, European and global film production. Foreign films are primarily screened in their original language. Documentaries, dinner-and-a-movie evenings, film-concerts, Q&A sessions, themed cycles and revivals of classics attract a loyal audience that is curious and drawn to the cinema’s welcoming atmosphere. Committed to film education for young audiences, the cinema hosts the three national schemes (High School, Middle School and School at the Cinema), and offers screenings for young and very young audiences throughout the year, as well as stop-motion and mashup workshops. During the school holidays, the ‘De bon matin’ screenings are designed for the very youngest children (aged 2-5) to accompany them in their first experiences as cinema-goers. The cinema (230 seats), which has been renovated and is air-conditioned, is equipped with 2K projection and digital equipment, as well as Dolby Digital sound.
The Pax Le Pouliguen cinema also offers screenings called “Bébés Bienvenus”, welcoming young parents accompanied by their babies.
