Description

Housed in the restored old lighthouse on the harbour at Tréhiguier, the Maison de la Mytiliculture features a permanent exhibition on the farming of bouchot mussels, which is one of the treasures of the Penestine heritage.

A fun and engaging presentation makes learning about this trade and its techniques accessible to everyone.

The first room immerses visitors of all ages in an underwater atmosphere to explain the life of the mussel.

Upstairs, the two rooms explore the profession of mussel farming through numerous photographs and tools.

The spiral staircase leads to the balcony, which offers a unique panoramic view of the Vilaine estuary and the port of Tréhiguier.

Two films are shown continuously, explaining both traditional and modern mussel farming techniques.
