The beautiful…

On Belle-Île-en-Mer, you’ll find wild cliffs, sheltered coves and charming harbours such as Sauzon and Le Palais. The Pointe des Poulains, the Aiguilles de Port-Coton and the beaches of Donnant and Herlin are among the island’s must-sees.

Belle-Île is best explored over one or more days, especially if you choose to walk or cycle. The island’s undulating terrain and large size mean you can take your time and savour each landscape… You can also choose to explore the island by bus, or with a 2 or 4-wheel hire car!

The duck

Houat is a Natura 2000-listed island, where people come in search of authenticity and fresh air. Its fine sandy beaches, clear waters and small coves invite you to slow down and enjoy the moment. The village, with its quiet lanes and flower-filled houses, can only be discovered on foot or by bike, in a soothing atmosphere.

And if you’re a keen walker, the 16-kilometre coastal path is a superb way to tour the island, with the ocean as your backdrop.

The duckling

Hoëdic lives up to its nickname. It’s a small island full of charm, preserved and recognised as a Natura 2000 site. Here you’ll find an intimate village, fine sandy beaches and a simple, nature-focused atmosphere. The Vauban fort, built in 1853, was never used for defence purposes, but has been given a new lease of life thanks to the Conservatoire du Littoral, which, together with the local inhabitants, has turned it into a unique visitor centre.

In summer, you can discover the island in a whole new way thanks to nature outings, environmental initiations and exhibitions put on by the association in charge of the fort. It’s a great way to understand Hoëdic, while respecting its fragile balance.
