The Brière Marshes

Created on 16 October 1970, the Parc Naturel Régional de Brière is one of the oldest regional parks in France. Located just a few kilometres from the Atlantic Ocean, in the heart of the Guérande peninsula, it covers 56,500 hectares. It’s a wild and protected area that’s a joy to visit. The Marais de Grande Brière is one of the highlights of the area. This wetland is one of the most biologically rich in Europe.

    The Marais de Grande Brière can be visited all year round, but spring and summer are the best times of the year to enjoy boat trips and nature outings. In spring, the wildlife is particularly active and the landscape is lush and green, with the irises in bloom. In summer, conditions are ideal for boating and boat trips are more frequent. Autumn also offers beautiful colours and a quieter atmosphere. In winter, although visits are possible, some activities may be limited depending on the weather and water levels.
