The Brière Marshes

Created on 16 October 1970, the Parc Naturel Régional de Brière is one of the oldest regional parks in France. Located just a few kilometres from the Atlantic Ocean, in the heart of the Guérande peninsula, it covers 56,500 hectares. It’s a wild and protected area that’s a joy to visit. The Marais de Grande Brière is one of the highlights of the area. This wetland is one of the most biologically rich in Europe.

Boat tours and horse-drawn carriage

Want to discover the Brière? Forget the car and head off into the heart of the Grande Brière Mottière marshes on board a barge (the local name for a flat-bottomed boat). With its fun walks and unusual discoveries, take the time to listen to nature and breathe… As part of the“Valeur Parc naturel régional” label, the Parc de Brière recommends the guides listed below for their contribution to the sustainable development of the region. This national collective mark is awarded in France’s 54 Regional Nature Parks to businesses of human dimensions that show an attachment to the area and work to promote it.
