Visits with a local – Greeters

Ajouter aux favoris

Let yourself be guided by passionate locals and discover La Baule-Presqu’île de Guérande in a different way, off the beaten track.

Every Greet its human encounter

Why not discover La Baule-Presqu’île de Guérande through the eyes of the people who live there? With the Greeters, set off on a walk alongside local enthusiasts, for a friendly, free and decidedly different experience. It’s a different way of understanding the area, based on your own interests.

A Greeter is not a professional guide. They are first and foremost local people who love their region, are curious about others and happy to share their favourite places. During a walk, they’ll open the doors of their daily lives to you: a secluded beach, a discreet path, a local anecdote, a confidential address.

Each encounter is unique, shaped by conversations, desires and sometimes even the weather. At La Baule-Presqu’île de Guérande, the Greeters embody an even more human form of tourism, based on meeting people, listening and sharing. Whether you’re a nature lover, an art lover, a cyclist or simply curious, these walks are all opportunities to experience the area from the inside, from the perspective of a local.

A unique experience and made-to-measure

Taking part in a walk with a Greeter is free and easy!

All you have to do is make a request at least seven days before your arrival, specifying your dates, your language, your areas of interest and what you’d like to discover on the France Greeters website. Depending on availability, a Greeter will suggest a suitable meeting: a place, a theme or an impromptu walk.

Groups are limited to a maximum of six people, to ensure a friendly and enjoyable exchange. The meeting is fixed in advance, but the programme is flexible: the walk lasts around two hours, sometimes more, sometimes less, depending on the moment shared. And it’s not unusual for the experience to extend over a drink. More than just a visit, it’s a warm and sincere human encounter, a way of experiencing the destination in a different way.

Committed tourism responsible and friendly

Originating in New York in the 1990s, the Greeter movement has grown up all over the world around strong values: hospitality, tolerance, openness and respect for the environment. In La Baule-Presqu’île de Guérande, these values take on their full meaning. Meetings are held in small groups, encouraging exchanges and limiting the impact on the places visited. They travel on foot or by bike, as part of a sustainable and gentle approach to tourism.

As volunteers, Greeters give their time for pleasure, convinced that the richness of a region is transmitted above all through people. They are the welcoming faces of a destination that can be discovered as much through its landscapes as through the people who bring it to life on a daily basis.
