Getting to and around the Guérande peninsula

Whether you’re coming by train, car, bus or plane, getting to the Guérande peninsula is easy and practical.

By train

The Guérande peninsula is easily accessible by train. The main stations are La Baule-Escoublac, Le Pouliguen and Le Croisic, which then provide access to the heart of the Presqu’île. From Nantes, the journey to La Baule takes less than an hour, making it a quick and convenient option for a weekend or holiday. Once you arrive at the station, you can continue your journey by bus, taxi or bike to your final destination.

Here are some approximate times:

  • Paris → La Baule: around 3 hours
  • Angers → La Baule: approximately 1h45
  • Lyon → La Baule: approx. 5h30
  • Lille → La Baule: approx. 6 hours

By car

Whether you’re coming with family, friends or carpooling, the car remains a practical way of discovering the region at your own pace. Car-pooling is also an interesting solution if you want to share the journey and reduce your ecological impact.

The region is very well served by road. From Paris or cities to the north and east, the A11 motorway takes you as far as Nantes, then you reach the peninsula on the expressways.

  • Paris → Le Croisic: 465 km
  • Nantes → Guérande: 80 km
  • Rennes → Pénestin: 131 km

By bus

Long-distance buses, such as FlixBus or BlaBlaCar Bus, make it easy to get to Nantes from many French and European cities. It’s a simple and economical solution, particularly suited to short breaks. From Nantes, there are several ways of getting to the Guérande peninsula: car pooling, train, etc.

Locally, the Lila Presqu’île bus network offers a network of routes linking the coastal towns, the medieval town of Guérande and the neighbouring villages. So you can travel from one commune to another without a car, at your own pace, throughout your stay. The Tourist Office sells tickets for the Lila Presqu’île bus network.

Coming to the area from Nantes airport

Nantes-Atlantique airport, around 75 km from the Presqu’île, provides easy access from many French and European cities. Arrival is easy by hire car, shuttle bus, taxi or car pool.

For light aviationtravellers, the La Baule-Escoublacaerodrome also offers direct access to the heart of the coastline, just a few minutes from the bay.

Getting around by bike

La Baule-Presqu’île de Guérande offers numerous cycle paths and itineraries for exploring the various points of interest in the area. In many communes, you’ll find bike hire companies, making it easy to enjoy the countryside, even if you don’t have your own bike. It’s practical, environmentally friendly and a great way to discover the region at your own pace.
