Autumn family weekend

An active, family-friendly autumn weekend on the Guérande peninsula: cycling, nature and discovery.

The essentials of your stay

Fancy an autumn family weekend combining the sea and the countryside? The Guérande peninsula offers the perfect cocktail: typical villages, bike rides, nature to discover and fun activities for all ages. Fewer people than in summer and golden-coloured landscapes make every moment more enjoyable and accessible.

This two-day programme is designed to get you moving, exploring and creating memories together. Whether you like cycling, sailing on the Vilaine or delving into local history, you’ll find activities to suit everyone. Follow the guide for a weekend of discovery.

Going up  towards the Vilaine

Start your weekend with a cycle ride from Saint-Molf to the village of Boulay. The cycle path is safe and suitable for families, perfect for cycling at your own pace while enjoying the autumn scenery.

In the afternoon, change the mood and head for the banks of the Vilaine to explore the river. Local service providers offer boats to suit everyone. You can then stop off at Camoël, at the port of Vieille Roche, to extend your walk along the pathway and watch the boats. A day that combines activity, discovery and immersion in nature.

A day in the Brière

The second day begins in Saint Lyphard, in the village of Kerhinet. The setting and the many thatched cottages transport the whole family back in time. Here you can discover local crafts and produce.

Not far away, you can explore the Brière marshes from the port of Bréca on a barge – a traditional flat-bottomed boat – with an enthusiastic guide. Accessible to all, this is a great way to get an insider’s view of the Brière and its flora and fauna, while enjoying some unique autumn landscapes.

Another option is to head for Herbignac and the Château de Ranrouët. The ramparts, moats and family activities are sure to delight children. A visit that combines games, discovery and history, ideal for ending the weekend on a dynamic and fun note.

Our advice for your stay

– Activities remain open in autumn: visit one of our Tourist Offices for advice, maps and practical information, and book certain activities in advance to make the most of every moment, sometimes at preferential rates.

Check out the Tourist Office diary, which lists many local events throughout the year: festivals, markets, exhibitions and one-off events will give you the chance to enjoy unique experiences and create beautiful memories.
