Set off on an adventure on the Vélocéan and discover the Guérande peninsula, between sea and marsh, by bike for a weekend.

The essentials of your stay

Fancy an active weekend away from it all?

The Vélocéan is the coastal cycle route that runs along the Guérande peninsula, between the sea, marshes and typical villages. Accessible to all, it allows you to hop from port to port, discovering the natural landscapes and local heritage, while enjoying the sea air.

Whether you bring your own bike or hire one locally, there are plenty of options. Hire companies, accommodation providers and local service providers are on hand to guide you to the must-do routes and make it easier for you to explore.

Over 2 days, you can combine nature walks, gourmet stops and panoramic viewpoints for a weekend full of energy and discovery.
The adventure begins, ready to pedal?

From La Baule  in Mesquer

From La Baule, the Vélocéan takes you between the sea, salt marshes and picturesque villages. After a short climb up the Guérande hillside, enter the fortified town through the Porte Saint-Michel. The cobbled streets, shops and cafés invite you to put the bike down for a break. Before setting off again, take a tour of the ramparts and admire the listed towers and gates.

Next, you’ll cycle along the Guérande salt marshes, where, depending on the season, you can go birdwatching and explore these natural areas.
The route continues on to La Turballe, then Piriac-sur-Mer, with its granite houses and small seafront breaks, perfect for stopping to contemplate the landscape.

After Port Loup, head for the beach at Lanséria and the Pointe de Merquel, with a detour to the oyster-farming port of Kercabellec for fresh oysters.

For the night, opt for a Accueil Vélo® campsite or local accommodation, so you can enjoy the comforts of home after such an active day!

From Mesquer  in Pénestin

The second day begins with an early-morning outing among the birds, salt marshes and countryside.

The route skirts the Traict de Rostu and offers superb panoramic views from the pointe de Pen-Bé: oceans, oyster beds and changing landscapes, perfect for taking your time and enjoying the fresh air.
Continuing northwards, you pass through the salt-marsh villages and discover the bay of Pont-Mahé and the Pointe du Bile.

The day ends at the Mine d’Or, where the orange cliffs offer a spectacular panorama.

Time for lunch? Let yourself be tempted by Pénestin’s speciality, bouchot mussels!
