Between sky and water, the Brière Regional Nature Park reveals a landscape of rare beauty. Here, nature reigns supreme: reed beds, canals and meadows blend together in a ballet of light and silence.

A natural setting living through the seasons

The marsh, mirror of the sky, changes its face with each season: spring’s bursts of flowers, summer’s dazzling light, autumn’s golden reflections, winter’s mysterious mists.

Aboard a barge, let yourself be carried away by the silence. As a couple, the ride becomes a daydream. As a family, it’s a life-size treasure hunt, with herons, dragonflies and kingfishers all waiting to be discovered at the bend in the canal. La Brière invites you to slow down, breathe and feel…

At every turn, a new picture emerges: thatched cottages nestling on the water’s edge, flower-filled meadows, mirrored ponds. It’s a delight to get lost here, as if in a dream. Even when standing still, La Brière moves, breathes and lives to the rhythm of the water and the wind…

Between nature and legends

At the port of Bréca, barges glide peacefully towards the heart of the marsh. At the port of La Pierre Fendue, nature flirts with the imaginary: here, a dragon is said to have once terrified the region before being defeated by a hermit. The split rock bears witness to this mythical battle. Between silence and tales of yesteryear, La Brière is like a living tale.

These authentic harbours are also places where you can meet the boatmen who tell you about their trade, or the local people who are proud of their heritage. Their stories add a human dimension to the beauty of the marshes. At the end of the day, when the sky is ablaze, the lapping of the water mingles with the birdsong, and we understand why the Brière inspires so many artists and dreamers…
