Our favourite visits

At La Baule-Presqu’île de Guérande, you go from a fortified town to a pine-lined driveway, then to a bell tower that dominates the whole area. These three visits, accessible for most of the year, give you that little taste of exploration that you love on holiday. You don’t need to be a heritage expert, just curious. Whether you’re a family or a couple, there’s something for everyone.

For the little ones... Dragon hunt in Guérande

As soon as the visit begins, children are hooked on to the story as if they were stepping into a real fairytale. In Guérande, they follow in the footsteps of a mysterious dragon, guided by a treasure hunter who knows every nook and cranny of the narrow streets. We move slowly forward, observing a detail on a wall, a clue hidden near a door, and the little explorers take matters into their own hands.

The parents get in on the fun, enjoying themedieval atmosphere and the ease with which the children make the city their own. A simple, lively activity, perfect for a morning when you just want to share something together.

And for the grown-ups! Villas and architecture in La Baule

A complete change of scenery with La Baule and its historic quarter. Here, you can walk between Belle Époque villas, look up and discover unusual architecture that you would never have noticed on your own. The tour lasts an hour and a half, and time flies.

The guide traces the birth of the resort, recalls the families who stayed here from the late XIXᵉ century onwards and highlights the architectural details that give each villa its personality. It’s a pleasant walk, perfect for a quiet afternoon, when you take the time to savour the atmosphere of Baul, with the sound of the sea in the background and the scent of pine trees all around…

Get some height! The bell tower of Saint-Lyphard

And then there’s the moment when you decide to get a bit of height. The bell tower of Saint-Lyphard offers a panoramic view of the Marais de Grande Brière and the surrounding area. You climb up, at your own pace, and at the top, everything suddenly opens up: the marshes, the villages, the neighbouring bell towers… The moment is a little suspended.

We stayed for a few minutes, not talking, just enjoying the view and trying to recognise the silhouettes in the distance. It’s a short but memorable visit, perfect for families with children aged 6 and over or couples.
